Our Volunteers

Three Forks Area Ambulance is accepting volunteers. Listed below are the volunteer positions we have available. Volunteer medical personnel and drivers are expected to attend meetings on the first and third Monday of each month, and either give 16 hours of standby time, or make 30% of our calls. If you have questions, please ask!

Driver: Our drivers play a critical role on every call, not only driving the ambulance but also supporting our medical teams as they treat patients. This support can include tasks like gurney retrieval, getting needed equipment, assistance with patient lifting, taking notes, pre-filling paperwork, and much more. No experience is needed to volunteer as a driver - we will provide all the necessary training. Drivers will be expected to learn First Aid and CPR. All positions listed below will also receive driver training.

EMR: Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) support our EMTs with patient care and often drive the ambulance on calls. They must be licensed with the state of Montana as an EMR*.

EMT: Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) are the backbone of our volunteer force. They provide our patient care and oversee the actions of the Drivers and EMRs on calls. They must be licensed with the state of Montana as an EMT*. We participate in Endorsement training several times per year at no cost to volunteers to help new EMTs gain Medication and Airway endorsements on their licenses.

A-EMT: Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT) provide advanced life support functions and advanced medical knowledge to our crews. They must be licensed with the state of Montana as an A-EMT.

Paramedic and above: At this time Three Forks Ambulance is only licensed as a BLS service and therefore does not operate with Paramedic or higher certifications. While advanced medical personnel are always welcome to volunteer with our crew (including Nurses and Doctors), we do not carry ALS medications or equipment on our Ambulances. Licensed Paramedic volunteers would operate as AEMTs on calls.

Non-Responders: We also accept volunteers from the community that wish to support our efforts through activities like cleaning our station, providing meals for crew meetings, helping at events and fundraisers, administrative support, and more. Please email us with your interest.

*Note: we occasionally offer EMR and EMT training classes. Those interested can volunteer as a driver and then take the class to promote to a higher level of care.
